Parent Forum
TEAMability is very happy to announce that a new “Parent Forum” has been established here in San Antonio.  This group of parents, family members and caregivers of children with severe, combined disabilities met for the first time in October, 2007 at Pepe’s Restaurant where they enjoyed a delicious meal sponsored by All Star Medical.

During the kick-off meeting, parents had a chance to share their common needs and concerns regarding their children’s lives, educational programs, medical services, home health nursing, equipment needs, recreational opportunities and other resources. The 20 attendees of the Parent Forum represented seven school districts and had children of elementary, middle and high school age.

Since the initial meeting, the Parent Forum has met every other month for almost 3 years. Topics covered have included Related Services in the school environment, Special Needs Park plans with Gordon Hartman, C.A.M.P. Camp, state and local resources for children with severe and multiple disabilities, specialized equipment availability and resources, Special Education, Music Therapy. and many more.

The next Parent Forum will meet at the TEAMability Learning Center at the NW corner of IH10 @ Culebra Road intersection on September 14, 2010 at 6:30 PM.
